Maestro Khemadasa the towering figure in Sri Lankan music will be remembered on November 1st 2013 that will mark his 5th death anniversary with a felicitation concert organized by the Khemadasa Foundation and the Ministry of Youth affairs.
The concert will feature a long list of Maestro’s popular and evolutionary songs that that he composed in the 50 years of his prolific career. Singers who will be at the Youth auditorium on November 1st to pay tribute to the late Maestro will include W.D Amaradev, T.M Jayaratne, Nanda Malini, LathaWalpola, PradeepaDharmadasa and IndikaUpamali to name a few.
Quoting the film director and playwright Jayantha Chandrasiri, ‘Khemadasa’s emotional, powerful and sensitive work has enriched Sri Lankan art in every manner throughout the years. He constantly swam against the tide, introducing new idioms to Sri Lankan music. Maestro should be remembered and his work should be conserved for future generations’.Maestro will be remembered and the public will be given an opportunity to listen to a selection of Maestros memorable work on November 1st at ‘HansaVila’.
